Undergraduate Scholarships

Since 1946, the Polish American Board of Education of Berks County (PA) has awarded annual scholarships to outstanding high school seniors of Polish descent that are preparing to attend college.

Our Education Board wishes to make all Berks County students of Polish descent aware of the opportunity offered to them through our scholarship program.

Last year (2009), eleven scholarships worth $26,000.00 were awarded. Over the past seven years, over 85 scholarships totaling over $180,000.00 were distributed to winning applicants. Please see the Winners page for details on past recipients.

Scholarship applications for 2010 will be accepted in the beginning of 2010, until the submission deadline: Saturday March 20th 2010.

Please use the links at left to read the scholarship guidelines and rules, and/or download a scholarship form. Your guidance counselor can also help you.

If after reading the rules you have additional questions, please contact the Scholarship Chairman, through the Contact link at left.

In the near future, we will be providing an enhanced Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page to provide answers for the most common problems.

Graduate Scholarships

While PABE does not directly fund scholarships for post-undergraduate education (graduate school, medical school, law school, etc), we would like to make all students aware of the opportunities available through the Kosciuszko Foundation.

Kosciuszko Foundation Scholarships are granted on a competitive basis to full-time students at accredited United States universities who have an excellent academic record and who are able to demonstrate a strong sense of identification with the Polish-American community and with Polish culture in general. While generally designed for graduate study, a limited number of Kosciuszko Foundation scholarships are available for undergraduate study. Thanks to its members and benefactors, the Foundation is able to disburse more than $1 million annually to hundreds of Polish Americans and others involved in Polish studies. Please see the Kosciuszko Foundation website for details.

Thank you.
